Corby Town ended the Steel Park Cup 2016 in style with an emphatic 3-0 win against a youthful Leeds United XI. Both sides had openened the tournament with heavy defeats on Saturday and were hoping to end the tournament on a high. Leeds once again named a young line-up, however a number of players were added to the starting XI including Jack McKay and Jamie Shackleton who had been with the
first team squad earlier in the weekend. It was the hosts who started brightly as Andre Johnson burst through on goal, however a goal line clearance kept the scores level. Johnson was the player to break the deadlock during the first half however, as he fiercely volleyed home Oneil Odofin's knockdown following Liam Marshall's corner. Kurtis Revan added a second for the Steelmen in the second half with a driving run down the right and a low strike across the goalkeeper and in to the bottom corner. The scoring was rounded off by substitute Michael Ogilvie who avoided the attention of two Leeds defenders on the half way line before cooly rounding the onrushing goalkeeper in the box and finishing in to an empty net.
